Magnetic West, The City pulls me in,
Dazzling splendor kind of makes my head spin,
City of the World, I just call it home,
All roads lead to New York, as they once led to Rome
September 11 changed everything
Those killers flew in on the devil’s wing.
Unholy war came to New York Town.
Unholy war brought the Twin Towers down.
Three thousand tragedies,
Three hundred million tears.
City of Heros,
Shove aside fears.
The City never sleeps, yet it went into shock
Wave upon wave, and block after block
Our Bravest and Finest tried to rescue them all.
Raced in to the Towers, hundreds would fall.
The Pentagon too was under attack
and on flight 93 some heros fought back
said good bye my darlin remember me do
take care of the children, I’ll always love you
Three thousand tragedies, three hundred million tears. City of Heros, shove aside fears.
We go on with our lives as if nothing has changed
Don’t see the cops, guns and flowers it’s all re-arranged
When the jets hit the towers we were under attack.
The official response blames Saddam and Iraq
Our rights and our freedoms we’re now told to give back
The flag’s in the air something’s out of whack
There’s no time to argue, we must even the score
We can lie if we need to the truth is a chore
We’ve got God on our side, we’ve been here before,
but if God’s on our side, we’ll stop this damn war
if God’s on our side, we’ll stop this damn war
Three thousand tragedies, three hundred million tears. City of Heros, shove aside fears.
It’s not how you pray, but how you live.
Work hard, play hard, remember to give.
Without the Spirit prayer is only talk,
And Talk, Talk is cheap. It’s how you walk.
You call yourselves Holy yet you dream death and war.
This Jihad, this Crusade, this is no Holy War.
Beat your swords into plows and learn war no more.
Beat your swords into plows and learn war no more.
Thousands of tragedies, oceans of tears. Cities of Heros, shove aside fears.
